New Scheme to Compensate Blacklisted Workers

Eight construction firms have announced the launch of a scheme aimed at compensating workers who were victims of past blacklisting in the industry. Under the scheme, workers on the list would be paid £4000 on a fast track basis rising to £20,000 if they can prove discrimination.  In more serious cases, up to £100,000 could be awarded.  For more see BBC News .

Fastest Growth in Construction Industry for Months

An increase in housebuilding helped the UK construction industry to grow at its fastest pace for four months in June, a survey has suggested.  Housebuilding was once again the fastest-growing element in the construction sector, seeing the biggest expansion in activity and the fastest growth in new orders since January.  For more see BBC News.
