CPCS Operator Training
NTSS Ltd have been granted Test Centre Status for our training grounds in Cambridgeshire. CPCS Certification is still the most widely sought after and well recognised. If you are going to be working on a large construction site, chances are you will be required to have a CPCS operator card.
The Technical Test is in two parts and any of our CPCS Trainers and Testers are available to discuss your needs or queries:
A CPCS Theory Test consists of a number of questions on Health & Safety and Technical Elements for the type of equipment under test.
A CPCS Practical Test consists of a number of tasks to judge the competency of the operator in skill and judgement whilst using a machine.
Before undertaking any CPCS course/test it is necessary to have passed a Health & Safety touch screen test in the two years prior.
Note: The CPCS Theory element is required to be taken and achieved prior to an attempt on the CPCS Practical Test. This is to ensure that the Candidate has demonstrated a fundamental knowledge of the category for safety reasons.

NPORS Operator Training
In 2015 NTSS Ltd also became an accredited training provider for NPORS plant training. We can provide this training either at our training centre in Cambridgeshire or on customer’s sites.
NPORS training and testing is conducted in accordance with published course objectives and learning outcomes which are derived from the National Occupational Standards. Testing includes Theory and Practical testing much in the same was as CPCS. It is possible to book a 1 day course for experienced operators that involves testing only or a novice or refresher course can be booked over several days to include training prior to testing.
The NPORS Operator Card is a record of training/assessment an individual has undertaken to prove their ability to safely operate or drive an item of plant machinery or equipment. Registration with NPORS lasts for three or five years from the date of first initial test.

As well as our CPCS and NPORS courses we also offer our own in-house courses and certifications. Training and testing for our NTSS courses is based around the NPORS structure. All our instructors are either NPORS or CPCS accredited and the training offered is up to the same standard. These courses/certifications are ideal for employees who require adequate training to ensure they can safely operate plant but don’t require a more recognized certification.

The course gives delegates an awareness of health and safety and how it affects their daily role. It can be used as preparation training for the CITB Health, safety and environment test or as refresher training. This course is the first step towards the new CSCS Labourers Card / Green Card (previously Site Operatives card).

NVQ Assessments for CPCS Upgrade
Plant Operators working in construction with Red cards which are due to expire or have expired will need to, in order to obtain a blue 5 year card, complete the relevant NVQ level 2. If the certification is not upgraded there is the potential that the candidate may have to repeat theory, practical and the NVQ at a greater cost.
We are able to offer EWPA certification which enables experienced workers who do not require any further plant training to obtain a blue 5 year CPCS card. For more information on EWPA click here.
PUWER Plant Training / Equipment Operator Training
All operatives that use either plant or equipment are required by the PUWER and CDM Regulations to have received adequate information, instruction and training. Plant training by our qualified Trainers and Testers can by carried out at your premises or at our Training site at Goosetree on the A605 in Cambridgeshire.
Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005, it requires that the assembly, dismantling or alteration of Mobile Access Towers should only be undertaken by a Competent Person, or if being trained – under the supervision of a Competent Person. The PASMA Standard Course is a one day course, that will allow operatives to assemble, inspect and dismantle Mobile Towers safely. For more information on P.A.S.M.A click here.
