There is a CSCS card to cover most occupations in the construction industry. Your current job, your previous experience and any qualifications you have will determine which type of card you should apply for.

You may be aware that the requirements from the CITB have changed. If you are working or entering the construction industry as an operative you will now require a CSCS ‘ Green Labourer Card ‘ which has replaced the previous CSCS Construction Site Operative card.
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry.
CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out.
The Scheme keeps a database of people working in construction who have achieved, or are committed to achieving a recognised construction related qualification.
Most principal contractors and major house builders require construction workers on their sites to hold a valid CSCS card.
Requirements to achieve the Green Labourer CSCS Card
To apply for this card you will need to have achieved either QCF/SCQF Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment or one day Site Safety Plus Health and Safety Awareness Course which we are able to provide – click on the link for more information.
You must also pass the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test (touch screen test) within two years prior to applying for a new card. We are also able to offer this test.
Once you have received the Green Labourer Card it is valid for five years and can be renewed subject to the above conditions being met.
